The following is an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid term.

The answer by one student was so 'profound' that the professor shared it with colleagues, via the Internet, which is, of course, why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well :

Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)?

Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant.

One student, however, wrote the following:

First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today.

Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added.

This gives two possibilities:

1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.

2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell,then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.

So which is it?

If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my Freshman year that, 'It will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you,' and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then number two must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over. The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct......leaving only Heaven, thereby proving the existence of a divine being which explains why, last night, Teresa kept shouting 'Oh my God.'

am a pretty strong guy. And I can tell that I am much stronger than a lot of you weak women out there. When I go to the gym, I look around at all the girls on the machines struggling to make 25 pounds bounce up and down on the cord as they lift, curl, press or whatever it is they just can't do as well as me.

There are guys there too, but I don't look at them of course because they are dudes.

I look at the weak women with their soft bodies and perfumed flesh. Sometimes I feel like walking over to them and offering to lift the weight for them. Why strain yourself. Let me lift that for you honey. Where? Up and down? I can do that. How many times? Why don't you sit down and rest while I lift it. Such a pretty girl, you sit and watch me.

I feel that if I were to do this, the girl would see that the weight room is a waste of her time in the first place. A better use of time might be to just learn to carry a 30 pound bag of rice in your arms while shopping or sauteeing something - so you won't just have to sit home napping when you have your first baby - you will be able to do stuff. I like girls who do stuff.

Anyhow, as for the gym, I would prefer if the girls only used the stairmaster. Because being strong like me, when I get tired from my long workout, I like to see some in-shape girl butts in tights bouncing up and down the stairmaster. Overall, it is better as well because your butt will help you attract guys like me and seduce me into bed with you. If your butt is nice enough, I might even marry you, or let you cook for me.

And girls on the treadmill are annoying. You can not run faster than me so why try? And heck, the treadmill does not really go anywhere. If I wanted to grab you, I could, whether you were running on speed 4 or 6.5 (which as fast as girls can go (I can run on 7.5 without sweating)). Of course I won't grab you because we have a civilized society and it's not like it was like 50 years ago when men came back from hunting game and just grabbed women and mounted them wherever and whenever and everyone was happy and no one minded. But I think to myself, maybe she is learning to run so that she can flee danger. I guess that's a useful skill for girls who don't have men to protect them. But if you were dating me, I would kick danger's ass. You would not need to run scared you little weakling. You would only need to stand back about twenty feet and watch from behind the nearest wall, while I fight. So why don't you practice that. Get off the treadmill and practice standing behind the wall watching me.

The other thing I notice is all the emotions and the crying. God help me if I have to hear more crying. What, may I ask is the problem, anyway? Did someone say something to someone else or to you? Ah, that's it. That kind of stuff gets you every time. Personally I would be ashamed to be so weak. But I guess if I spent my time talking on my cell phone while at the gym or in the car(like a girl)
: trying to have nice hair and a sexy ass - I would cry a bunch as well.

I know you all are weak and emotional - but heck if you are not cute as kittens. So basically I am here to announce that I am available for one of you sexy girls with a nice ass. I could take more than one but its not like it was 50 years ago and all where I would have a bunch of you little darlings in a tent and a few off in another tent having your moon cycles together.

Haven't been blogging it up much recently. One reason for that: training. What kind of training? ARMMMMY TRAININNG! If you don't get that, you suck. Click the link to find out why...

So what is new. Just finished a 12 mile road that was really a 13.5 mile road march. My platoon sergeant is a sneaky hilarious man. The other day I had to go to a Stryker simulator and he told us to be in full kit. Turns out we only needed to be in uniform to go. When we found out he laughed so evil like it frightened, disturbed, and yet made me laugh hysterically.

Spend pretty much every night this week playing Street Fighter IV. I'm so in love with that game, and I'm getting pretty damned good if I say so myself. Of course I'm not on the level of those crazy Asian weirdos, but hey, I'm gettin there.

Saw District 9...twice. Sneaky fucking prawn. hellz yeah.

Took me a long ass time to get out and enjoy the woods up here, but better late than never. It is so beautiful up here, and it's all within a couple hours of driving. Last weekend I went to Granite Mountain.

Anyways, it was very busi in terms of how many people were out there, but this weekend I drove a little further north (read almost to Canada) and hiked a mountain called Mt. Dickerman. Amazing view from up top. The norther cascades are breathtaking. Here a few pictures:

(via digg) So whilst browsing the digg widget on my igoogle, this story came up; "Save the Planet". I love reading a good ole Al Gore worshiping article concerning global warming, end of the world, yada yada yada. Insted I was greeted with the picture above. Some guy named George Carlin, and I find it absolutetly hilarious. Now granted, we as the human race have royally fucked this planet up. However, when you get down to it, what that picture says is 100% true; how the fuck are we gonna save the planet when we can't even fix ourselves?

Now with that in mind read this comment from the digg article:

But you really think that'll happen? Nopes, not very likely. If pushes comes to shove, and the world biodiversity implodes in the worst possible fashion (google : anoxic event) and we have a mass extinction, literally hundreds millions of humans could survive just fine in enclosed arcologies and biospheres. It won't be pretty and almost certain the worst dictatorship you have ever seen, but it can be done with existing technologies. And it won't stop there - these arcologies can be made to spread. In several centuries the world might be a barren, uninhabitable toxic hothouse, where you suffocate and die in hours, but arcologies might slowly spread, one here, another there. With existing technologies. They'd run on thorium reactors and we have enough material resources and scientific know how, today, to make arcologies function like that for thousands of years.

If we had wars, that might limit our potential to build big enclosed structures. Wars as we would have em now are nothing like we had in history - they would come with fullblown ABC warfare and if that happens you'd have a cocktail of deadly, rapidly mutating diseases, target zones sterilized with nuclear and chemical cocktails so horrendously lethal it would take centuries to have anything like an inhabitable planet. In such a scenario a global ice age would be a potential worst case scenario - in geologic history there have been several periods when the entire earth was glacial, down to the equators. Even then, complex animals survived, here and there.

And in that case - global meltdown, nuclear armageddon, the worst kinds of bacteriological, viral and neurotoxin warfare, millions of people could survive, under brutal but manageable conditions, underground. There are thousands of miles of hollowed out salt mines, tunnels. That is enough space to house millions, even grow food in hothouses, powered by nuclear reactors. The transition of living above ground to creating survival spaces underground for millions could be done in several years, if necessary. There would be internet, food rationing, forms of slave labor, universities, science, art down there. Unthinkable now, but human civilization would persist, and probably not just in one space - there could be literally hundreds of underground hives left intact centuries after the worst possible nuclear scenarios.

BUT

All that is unlikely. We have come to regard human cviilization right now with the same stunned ignorance as a traffic accident and startingly few people have any greater conception o what this means. Well, in plain words, what is happening on this planet in terms of complex life is amazing in itself, but it is nothing compared to the unlikely and somwhat grotesque emergence of intelligence, tool using life, science, technology, complex societies and - recently - computational technologies.

What is happening right now is changing society in ways few people appreciate just how significant they are, in a cosmic perspective. If only a minute number of people would develop the skill, resources and opportunity to survive outside the planets atmosphere, with sciencea and technologies we have today we would be able to literally infect the wider cosmos with humanity and human derivative will for thousands of light years, spreading at a rate as fast as one light year per century - a glacial pace to some, but still enough to spread a wave front of human presence at a rate fast enough to stampede over the entire galaxy in less than several million years. That is like throwing a match in a pile of gunpowder - it is an explosion in cosmic terms.

And mind you, that is with the technology we have now.

Yet technology is not standing still. Take a moment to laugh at how silly technology was - ten years ago. You'd laugh at a phone in 1999. You;d cry and scream if you had to live with a PC from 1999. So - how does a PC look in 2019? And that's just computing... how about advances in micro-scale technology? Agriculture? Biogenetics? Nanotechnology? New materials? Programming algorithms? Optical or quantum computing? Robotics? Space colonies? Alternative sources of energy? Particle physics? Virtual reality? Life extension technologies? Intelligence enhancement? Medicine? New modes of transport? Space elevators? ....... Artificial Intelligence? If one of these pan out in the way we suspect they *might* unwrap, the revolution will change everything, and empower humanity in ways we can scarcely put into words.

Imagine these things - a copper strip mine - the highest hundred buildings on earth - the ten biggest oil rigs - an oil tanker - a suspension bridge. Call all that stuff "technosphere" (as opposed to biosphere). Now envision all biosphere mass to be, on average, a layer of half a centimeter on average, globally - all algae, trees, animals, insects, plants, everything, spread out. Now imagine, a century from now, technology growing and building and spreading so fast, that "technosphere" covering the entire planet, burrowing into the crust in some places miles deep, in some places rising tens miles high into the sky, no place on earth with no technological construct. Not just cities ... but something new we don't have words for. Everywhere the eye can see - like Coruscant, - but far more imaginative.

We stand on the brink - a long drawn out whimper - a dark ages worse than any dark period humanity has ever experienced - or a transformative event where humanity will exponentially build, construct, grow, expand, far beyond what most people can appreciate as a remote possibility.

In that light the quoted image looks as parochial as any sentimental claim in history belittling change. In fact, the future may be more grandiose (and *weird*!) compared to today, as today is mindboggling to a pleistocene hunter gatherer. And we stand on a moment where the path to the future will be unlocked, or the key will be broken - within the coming generation we'll know if we are a species of galactic losers, or if we wiill germinate from a seed into a majestic galactic tree.

...some people just don't see the point. I get it, you wanna save the planet. And you have a very scientifically founded and mature response. Good, the world needs more people like you. HOWEVER, good God man, take a breath and look at the bigger picture. We as a people are scavangers and do not, in general, care for the planet.

The point of this picture? We need to reassess how we interact with this planet, not just "save it". The planet will survive regardless of whether or not we do. So the next time you drop a candy wrapper off the side of the road, I hope you realize what you're doing.

Well, it's the end of the first 'real' work week in a while. What did I do you ask? Well I'll tell ya. I don't remember what I had to do on Tuesday, probably something tedious and mindless. I'm sure the same thing happened on Monday, but that is fuzzy as well.

Wednesday I jumped out of a stupid airplane being flown by the ever notorious rough riding pilots of the WANG. (Washington Air National Guard). That was the worst jump/exit I ever had, and I've had some bad ones. Right as I'm walking up to the door the freaking bird just starts bouncing all over and I almost fall over. Manage to steady myself hand of my static line and the next thing I know I the ground, then the bird flying away, then the ground again, then the bird again. This happened a few times. I never had that many twists in my risers. Really sucked. Worst yet was my landing. They teach you the 'proper' way to land. Well instead of hitting the feet, calf, thigh, butt, and pull up muscle. I hit feet, ass, head. It fucking hurt. I think I bruised my tail bone. fail.

Well, that's all I got. Flying back home for the 4th to pillage with the brothers and few remaining friends. Meanwhile, in an alternate reality:

Yeah, it's almost Christmas:

I love when the jewish guy starts with the dreidel song. classic. Anyways, haven't been feeling any outstanding urges to blog recently. I guess it's the holiday spirit as I usually feel glum this time of year. But that's a whole other bundle of joy we shall not unwrap. Let's see, what's new. I found my meal card. I lost it like 4 months ago, prolly longer. It was shoved in teh couch somehow. This is exciting. I am happy.

For the uninformed, a meal card the the military's answer to food. You see, most people seem to think that certain living necessities such as food and shelter are taken care of for our young men and women serving in the military. These people would be wrong. Out of my paycheck every month $250 is withdrawn for meals. Out of my base pay mind you. So that "fatty" pay check I get on the 1st and the 15th of every month, is smaller. So when the chow halls are closed due to "weather" or simply because the cooks are till deployed to Kentucky (me) you get stuck in a bind. Not to mention that most chow halls are worse than prisons I'm sure. I wont even touch on living conditions.

Ranting aside, whatever, I'm a fucking Ranger, we put up with much worse things than bad chow. But as good ole General Patton said, "the only time you need to worry about a soldier is when they stop complaining". Good stuff.

Working on some more comics for PTSD, as well as a new layout. I've only a few pence and dollars to me name so such luxuries as coffee with the coffee shop girl will be limited to wishful thinking.

Well, I'm done, back to watching Smallville and drawing up some PTSD. I'll leave you this, in keeping with the dramatic chipmunk:

Well, I'm home from the great state of Kentucky. Nothing all that great about it, save the fact that it was cold as hell and I had to train it it for a couple weeks. In addition to the awesomeness that is training, I come home to an cable and internet connection that isn't working. Sweet. Whatever, I have tomorrow off so I'll call them and yell at them and guilt trip them into dealing with it. Gives me an excuse to get some coffee and use the wifi at the coffee shop with a certain someone.

Well. Yeah, so snow exists at Fort Lewis. Who'da thunk that. I had the lovely experience of waiting in my car for like 10 minutes for the heater to warm up enough to melt some snow off the windshield. I guess we socal people aren't used to that.

Unfortunately it's busi here at the coffee place, and therefore she's busi with customers. Nothing really to update. Just some things I'm planning on doing this holiday season. Gonna try and upgrade improve and design a website for PTSD. Do more PTSD. And drink.

Since when did MGM announce a new Stargate?! I guess I've lost touch with my google-spider like tendencies with respect to how much I know of the Stargate universe.

New York, NY - August 22, 2008 - SCI FI Channel and MGM Television Entertainment have reached an agreement to extend MGM's Stargate brand with a new series for the Channel. Production on the first season of Stargate Universe, a weekly series based on the popular Stargate franchise, will begin in early 2009, with the show targeted to premiere that Summer. Brad Wright and Robert Cooper, co-creators of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis and who both currently serve as executive producers on Atlantis, will serve as executive producers and writers on the new series.

Man it's a win win win. MGM and SCI FI backing it, it's a series that "was then pitched as an expensive series" and was "received very well". Hellz yeah! So we can expect a whole new storyline, tied into the universe of Stargate. Fuck man, this is awesome.

Rattled as being more space based action that the predecessor this will be cool. Who knows maybe we'll get a mind meld of Firefly and Stargate. Not gonna lie, I've had man a dreams about the merge of those two shows.

I'm diggin the character list. Was leaked when they put out for auditions.

Colonel Everett Young – Described as "40's handsome, capable, former SG team leader" who is "like the Jack O'Neill of ten years ago", yet with sharper edges. At the beginning of Stargate Universe, he has been married for two years and is the temporary commander of a secret off-world base.^[9]
Tamara Jon – An SGC field medic in her early twenties with off-world experience. She has a modest background, yet is "beautiful, tough, smart, capable." At the beginning of the series, she is overwhelmed by the lack of medical knowledge, experience, medicine and supplies aboard the ship.^[9]
Chloe Carpenter – A "stunning and sexy" daughter of a US Senator around her twenties, whose character is tested "after her father's tragic death and the dire circumstances of being trapped on a spaceship".^[9]

Evening sports racers, I'm eating taco bell and watching Will Smith kick ET's butt. And for some reason beyond me, my left forearm is numb. Ya know, like i fell asleep on my arm numb. tingly. Fucking annoying sensation, reoccurring even worse.

Woke up at like 11 today. It was nice sleeping in, but last week fucked my whole sleeping schedule up. Fuck you Yakima. This weekend eh. They always go by way to fast. Next weekend is a 4 day. What better way to kick it off then with a 20 mile road march. Apparently we're getting recalled on friday for a 20 miler. Fucking gay. It's ok the parental units are visiting for the weekend so that'll take my mind off the suck.

In other news, I'm saving money up for some new toys. First off is a car. I've been borrowing a buddy's who's at school now, but he's coming home soon. Nothing really in mind, most likely a truck like a Tacoma.

Well, another Friday night in the bag after a long week of training. What did I do with such a night you ask? Checked email, facebooked, blogged...fiddled around on internet watching youtube. Went on a coffee run. I think I'm in love with the girl that works at the coffee shop in the Barnes & Noble in Lakewood. And she's always so nice to me and we chit chat a lot. She was sportin' a kitty outfit for Halloween. I was rockin a Carhartt.

Then again, the chances of the mighty Sir Nate of Allen actually making something out of it...zero. It's somewhat uplifting to know how much you suck. Gods I love hating myself. yar.

So I just watched The Happening. I don't know what to say. Yeah I get the point mister shallalalalaman, we're a virus to this earth, yada yada yada...you can thank agent Smith for that line later. But look pal, you've made some great movies in your time; The 6th Sense, Signs, The Village, Unbreakable...but for fucks sake did you take a shit on any writting talent you possessed for this movie? I mean fuck, it was so goram painful to listen to marky mark 90% of the time. We got it, you want emotion in a rather dry movie, great.

And I know you didn't want suspense or a degree of fast paced action. Let's just not make up for that lack with dead bodies. Don't get me wrong, a dead body is awesome, but there is a time an place. And then it...just...ended. What? You watched fucking 28 days later or something when you were writing this? Oh snap, crazy disease confined to one area, lets leave the movie on a soft cuddly spot...then BAM! France gets fucked with disease.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the movie to a degree, but geeze, common shalala.

Anyways. Nobody here will understand the humor in this had after last week. Cheers, hopefully tomorrow will be productive.

Funny moment today. I sent out a text message to all my phone contacts to update them on my new phone number. I accidentally put in one of my old team leaders number in wrong.

So to update you all. I have a google phone. Which is somewhat of a lie as there is no "google phone". There is a phone by T-Mobile with Google's Android software specifically made for it. But for the sake of confusion we shall call it the Google phone.

Note the bad ass non default background made by yours truly. Anyways, so far this little toy is everything I wanted and more. A phone that gets reception, unlimited internet and messaging. Updates and syncs with my gmail contacts automatically. So it's always up to date. Love it. Only thing that has proven to be a bitch is the lack of SMS messaging for groups. When I sent said mass text message to some 200 contacts I had to pull up each one individually. Somewhat of a pain in the ass, but at the same time, I don't image having to do that that often. Also when you're adding a contact to a message; similar to gmail, in the "TO:" box you can just start typing a name and it'll pop up. In gmail you only have to type one letter to bring up all the contacts starting with that respective character. In Android you have to type at least 2 characters. Gets annoying. Oh well.

Well, not much to update on. Doing the HMMW V "school". Yeah, cuz it's so fucking hard to drive a Humvee. We spent all day today "going over" laws and regulations for driving, both civilian and military. Whatever, I'm sure I'll learn how to do some cool shit with a GMV.

In other news, I purchased myself a new jacket. Carhartt to be exact. It's so fucking awesome and warm and cool. I'm so stoked on it. And it's plenty cold up here as it is, especially recently. Take this morning for example. We go rucking. Ok alright, I'm down with it. I'm an Eagle Scout, I'm cool with throwing a pack on and taking off with no real direction to go. I still do it. We head out, cool, warming up, pace is good, not to fast but a brisk speed. We get about 3 miles into it, decide to drop our PT sweat tops. Then it began to rain. A lot. Needless to say, out PT shirts aren't exactly warm. It sucked. Fuck this morning.

Rearranged the room yesterday. Very...nice. TV is a bit closer to the couch now, and I can store the OFG without constantly banging into it. You know you're in the wrong line of work when you have to hide how much liquor you have when you're getting inspected. Inspected on top of that. The new 1SG did a walkthrough the barracks to see how clean we keep our rooms and whatnot. He put it out, so of course we all had a little cleaning frenzy the night before. My room, was fine. He comes to our room on his walkthrough, yells at us for not even trying.

That was about a week ago. He did another one yesterday. Thus the room rearranging. I wasn't in my room when he came in to look at it, but I heard him ringing the bell on the OFG persistently from my squad room where I was cleaning my 240.

Speaking of the OFG. I wanted to fucking ride my bike all day today. It's fucking pouring right now. I mean come on. I know its Washington, but, the weekend? fuck you weather....fuck you.

I'll start with this...

And move on to this. Long time no see. Sorry about that. Been doing much traning. So much in fact that I forgot to spell training correctly. Did a combat jump yesterday. Went pretty smooth till I decided to do a one footed PLF, and ate shit and jacked up my left ankle. Anyways, internet is elusive and scarce at best. The other day I got very excited. I accidentally turned on my wifi in my room to discover a internet connection. However, upon further investigation I soon discovered that it didn't work. Either my computer is fucked up (likely), the connections router needs to reset (more likely) or both (very likely).

Either way, the Galactica hasn't been preforming as well as hoped since his indoctrination to the Nate's collective of all things geek and internet related. I'm still sure that a lot of drivers were missing. Now sometimes iTunes wont launch, explorer crashes, or any of the CS3 programs don't launch. Not to mention the crutch of Windows (taskman/ctrlaltdel) doens't even work.

Which led me to almost purchasing this:

I'd been thinking to myself, Apple has come a long way, and as much as I used to hate them, I now have...well lets just call it a softspot for the other silicon chipped love toys out there. Although I was surprised when I was fiddling around with the applications on it when i accidentally opened photobooth or whatever it's called.

Well, in other news, the first week back has been alright. Lots of busiwork and prepping for EIB. For those of you who don't know, the EIB is a 'skill badge' much like Airborne School, Air Assault school, Diving School, etc. Basically the 'Expert Infantry Badge' is a test of all the basic and not so basic skills required of an infantryman. So next week will suck. Land Nav. Apparently I will be up for many hours, upwards of 36 at a time, and next weekend is looking grim.

I wont be spending it in Seattle like I am right now. fuckleberries. Then again, the coffee shop I'm in right now is playing some music by my girlfriend.

Updates from this week; built my bike, shot my gun. I had intended on riding my bike around yesterday morning, but due to a long night of glory and drinking and bar hopping I slept in till like noon. However I have ridden it around the base a bit. Still trying to figure out where I can ride it off post. I need to find the PCH of encinitas that exist up here. Oh well, there's 5 years to get that down, I hope.

Other than that, picked up my sweetness and shot the shit out of her. So far I've put about 150 rounds downrange, which really isn't that much, but it was fun. I love her. And I bought myself some hollow points. Not just any hollow points. These mother fuckers:

Due to my given business trips, in particular the most recent one. I haven't been able to stay as up to date with my favorite show; Battlestar Galactica. I just finished watching the last of season 4, the last of the show. I am teh sad.

Overall I like how the show ended, however there were some things that I noted. Indicative of all TV shows that have been canceled, it's often hard to tie up all the loose ends and bring everything together in one season. BSG did that, however they sacrificed a few themes throughout the show in order to focus on finding Earth.

One of the things I always loved about the show is that while there is a main group of characters the show focuses on (a large group at that) they never failed to bring focus to the people of the fleet and bring them all together into the plot. Yes there are episodes that completely focus on the relationship of Starbuck and Lee, but even in those they're trying to save the fleet or something.

But this last season really focused on the Admiral, Lee, Roslin, and the final 5. No shit, that's the whole plot, but I laughed a couple times. When the Galactica would jump away with nobody to stop them, and the President would go over to a base star that would just jump into the fleet.

I'm just trying to imagine what the fleet is thinking; "fraking doing whatever they want, and we can't do a thing about it". makes me giggle...teehee

One thing I liked is how much of a badass Lee became. In the beginning of the series, every time I saw him all I could think of is how much of a little pissed off adolescent bitch he is. Now, the fucking president! And like, he's just a badass.

Kara. She's awesome...and extremely hott.

Boomer. Holy shit.

Man. It's over, it's really over. At the same time, it's a good thing. So many shows run for far too many seasons. As much as I love Stargate SG-1, it's the perfect example. The show was awesome for all 10 seasons. But it lost its magic when MacGyver got replaced by farscape boy. Stargate could have ended sooner (say season 6) and come to full circle. But the show was far too popular to end. So every time the SGC defeated a bad guy, another bastard would come along and wreak havoc on the galaxy (read: the Ori).

Battlestar Galactica very well could have been another Stargate. Seasons upon seasons of searching for Earth, butting heads with the Cylons every once in a while, and running into obstacles. But they did a very nice thing, they ended the show in such a way that everything was brought together, and then left you with this odd sensation. Well I'm back. And well I don't even know where to start. I have a lot of blogs that should have happened, but unfortunately the internet was down and out. I've missed you all. My most sincere sentiments after this long spell of silence in the blogosphere. Certain aspects of work and my non existent social life seem to have precluded me from writing this shit.

Well, RIP hold pretty much sucks. PT and a lot of standing around is all I can say about that. For those of you who want to know what I'm going after next, now that I've got Airborne under my belt; I'm chasing a spot in the 75th Ranger Regiment.

I got myself this contract because I wanted to serve with the best, especially if...when I get shot at. Being an 11B means direct line infantry. And being in the regiment means being the best of the best of the infantry.

4 weeks of RIP and I get a pretty tan beret and a sexy ass scroll on my shoulder. Can't wait for that. But those 4 weeks are going to be the hardest ones of my life. We're starting with some 150 guys and we saw the graduation ceremony of the class before us and they only graduated about 40 or 50. If that doesn't give you any hint of how hard this will be, I dont' know what will.

The only way I'm coming out of this is with a scroll on my shoulder or on a stretcher. And even then they'll recycle me (I hope). I didn't come all this way to try out for the best and quit. Now I'm sure I'll want to quit a whole bunch of times during the process, but in the end, all that pain is worth it.

Well...I'm at that point, well almost there I think. I've made it through Infantry OSUT. 16 weeks of Drill Sergeants, PT, muscle failure, weapons maintenance, rucking, shooting. Graduated, got my blue cord, felt like a badass, spent the weekend with the parents.

Then I moved over to Airborne hold and at the same time went to Javelin School. 2 weeks of trying not to fall asleep in the class, and playing Army duck hunt, where the duck is a tank, and the shotgun is a $100,000 anti armor heat sinking, image sensory missile.

Then I actually got to Airborne School. The famous, tradition leading back to the invasion into Normandy, with such grand stories likened to Band of Brothers. And I get here and the PT is a joke, and it's just 3 weeks of putting up with NCO's who could care less about you.

And now I'm off to RIP (Ranger Indoc. Program). Tomorrow morning we form up at around 0830 with all our gear. Some RIs (Ranger Instructors) will come and 'get' us. And by 'get' I mean smoke the living shit out of us, throw all our shit on a truck and have us chase the truck to RIP, about a mile away. I'll admit that I was scared about RIP during Airborne, but after my first jump, something clicked and I knew I could do it. Now I'm not saying that I'm a little nervous, but I'm mentally ready.

I think I wont have my laptop at RIP holdover, but I might have my cell phone, don't know till tomorrow. So if this is the last blog for a little while, thanks for all the help you guys have given me.
